Retiree health insurance
The PPACA created the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program to serve as a temporary reinsurance program for retirees over age 55 who are not eligible for Medicare. The program will reimburse employers for 80% of medical claims between $15,000 and $90,000 for these retirees and their spouses until the insurance exchanges are established in 2014. Only employers that currently provide health coverage for early retirees are eligible to apply.
