Overview
This privacy policy is designed to assist the user to understand how we collect and use information through the Arkansas General Assembly's website (https://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/). We take your privacy seriously and will use your personal information only to administer your account(s) and to provide services you have requested from us.
Information collected
Email addresses and passwords are collected to uniquely identify users on the Bill Tracking pages, along with a list of the selected bills each user chooses to track. Passwords are stored in a hashed and encrypted format to ensure that no one can read them. A user may reset forgotten or lost passwords through a page provided on the website.
The Committee Room Reservation form requests organization group or name, physical address, contact name, phone number, fax number, and email. The Education Committees public comments form requests user name, phone number, and email address.
How the information is used and maintained
A unique code is generated per user and stored in an internet cookie to allow each user to remain logged in while making use of the website. These cookies expire two (2) hours after the last interaction by the user on the website or after the user has logged out. A cookie is also set when a user chooses to enable the site's dark mode theme. This cookie is set to expire in five (5) years or is deleted when choosing to turn off dark mode.
The information will not be sold to third parties. The information collected through the bill tracking service on the website is stored for up to one (1) year, and is deleted at the start of the next legislative session of the Arkansas General Assembly. If at any time a user wishes to stop using the Bill Tracking service and have his or her data removed from storage before the next legislative session, please contact the Bureau of Legislative Research by email at webmaster@arkleg.state.ar.us or by phone at (501) 682-1937.
Information collected through various forms is not stored on the Bureau of Legislative Research webservers, but is distributed to Bureau of Legislative Research staff who provide the staff services related to the forms.
Public Disclosure
This website is maintained by the Bureau of Legislative Research, the staff agency for the Arkansas General Assembly and a public entity in the State of Arkansas. Certain information collected by the Bureau of Legislative Research may be subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act of 1967, Ark. Code Ann. ยง 25-19-101, et seq. In the event of a conflict between this privacy policy and the applicable law, the laws of the State of Arkansas will control.
