Michigan Lawsuit
Lawsuit filed by the Thomas More Law Center, a non profit organization that describes itself as a law firm "dedicated to the defense and promotion of the religious freedom of Christians, time-honored family values and the sanctity of human life." The Center's lawsuit challenges the constitutionality of PPACA's requirement that most individuals have health insurance.
On Oct. 7, 2010, a federal judge upheld the government's authority to require individuals to have health insurance and to assess financial penalties for those who do not. The Thomas More Law Center appealed the ruling, but in June 2011, the U.S. Court of Appeals upheld the constitutionality of PPACA.
