Community Health Centers
PPACA provides $11 billion in new funding over five years for federally qualified Community Health Centers.
Arkansas Implementation
Arkansas currently has 12 community health centers throughout the state, operating 71 clinic sites. For more information about the state's CHCs, click here: http://www.chc-ar.org/.
In Oct. 2010, the Mid-Delta Health Systems, Inc., a CHC that operates one clinic in Clarendon, was awarded $2.8 million in new federal grant funding through PPACA. The money will be used to build a new 14,000 square foot clinic to replace the center's existing 7,560 square foot facility. The larger facility is expected to allow Mid-Delta Health Systems to serve 1,700 more patients annually.
