Prevention and Public Health Fund programs
Section 4002 of the PPACA creates the Prevention and Public Health Fund manged by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support prevention and public health initiatives. Funding levels for the fund have been set at $500 for FY2010, $750 million for FY2011, $1 billion for FY2012, $1.25 billion for FY2013, $1.5 billion for FY2014 and $2 billion for FY2015 and each year thereafter.
The fund supports the federal grant programs listed below. The fund also supports other grant programs mentioned elsewhere on this website.
Arkansas's Implementation
In Sept. 2010, the Arkansas Department of Health was awarded $2.3 million for two Communities Putting Prevention to Work programs and $64,867 from the fund to support the state's Tobacco Quitline, an existing hotline that helps smokers quit.
