Medicare preventive services
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act eliminates cost-sharing for certain Medicare-covered preventive services and waives the Medicare deductible for colorectal cancer screening tests. Authorizes the Secretary of HHS to modify or eliminate Medicare coverage of other preventive services.
A proposed federal regulation would provide Medicare coverage for annual wellness visits beginning Jan. 1, 2011. The rule also eliminates out-of pocket costs for Medicare beneficiaries for most preventive services beginning Jan. 1, 2011.
